Building Reproducible Homes (CILB# 0614373) - satisfies 1 hr general (1 credit hours)
When discussing model home plans within residential design or residential building circles, the idea of creating and reusing home plans is often somewhat sneered at. Some of the derogatory terms include 'cookie cutter' and 'lacking imagination.'

What a curious response to a viable solution to a pressing societal need, given the potential benefits of creating those neighborhoods. And arguably, the reuse of such model home plans has shaped the landscape and fabric of our current society.

Given the exploding demand for smaller and more affordable homes, utilization of prototype house plans in residential building will be explored in this course. So too will be the idea that, if not already doing so, reusing successful plans may be a profitable business model for small to mid-sized builders.
