Reading and Interpreting Construction Specifications and Plans (CILB# 0614376, ECLB# 0802756) - satisfies 2 hours general (2 hrs technical for ECLB) (2 credit hours)
For every construction job of any significance there will necessarily be many documents that must be read and understood by the contractor before work can begin; but, work cannot begin until the client and the construction and/or electrical contractor have agreed on many details pertaining to the job.   It is important that the contractor is familiar with all of the information in the documents before agreeing to do the work. The specifications and plans portions of the bid package are of critical importance because they spell out the client’s expectations for designs, materials, methods, trades, quality assurance programs and other important details that describe what is to be built.  This lesson will concentrate on these two major parts.
