Students will realize that the ADA prohibits
public entities from isolating, separating, or denying people with disabilities
the opportunity to participate in the programs that are offered to others.

Students will understand that public
entities have an ongoing obligation to ensure that individuals with
disabilities are not excluded from public programs and services because public facilities
are inaccessible.

Students will know what would be a “reasonable
modification” for a public entity that would allow
persons with disabilities to employ mobility devices such as walkers, manual or
power wheelchairs, or electric scooters.
·
Students will understand that public entities
must communicate effectively through the use of readers, notetakers,
sign-language interpreters, open and closed captioning, and other tools for
people who have communication difficulties.

Students will know the rules governing the use
of service animals by a disabled person in a public facility. |
