The student will understand that air quality is also a major component and design consideration of HVAC systems.
The student will understand how the use of control devices within the HVAC system provide for energy efficiency and desired comfort within the home or office.
The student will have knowledge of the basic definition and components of HVAC.
The student will have knowledge of how to determine load calculations, the principles of heat transfer and the solar gain heat coefficient.
The student will have knowledge of the basic areas of Psychrometrics and the Psychrometric Chart.
The student will have knowledge of the basic refrigeration cycle.
The student will have knowledge of the basic equipment needed for an HVAC system.
The student will have knowledge of HVAC system types including: packaged rooftop, split system and heat pump.
The student will have knowledge of control devices that can be used within an HVAC system.
The student will have knowledge of major equipment used in HVAC including chillers, cooling towers, and boilers.
Lastly, the student will have knowledge of duct work and dampers used in air distribution systems.
